Sustainability PLM
BIMCON INC established an integrated decision support framework that transforms the current time-consuming and reactive (post-design) sustainability assessment into a proactive, analytical-driven design focus. This enables design optimization against sustainability targets.
The development of this framework evolved in phases:
Phase 1
Development of information models that captures the relevant information across the entire life cycle for use in product development, i.e. ensures consistent placeholder availability to support early design phases.
(NIST GRANT #SB1341-10-SE-0694)
Phase 2
Development of methodologies to enable semi-automatic management of sustainability targets, with an emphasis on cascading "top-down" targets.
(NIST GRANT # SB1341-11-CN-0086)

Proceedings of the seventh annual IEEE Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (IEEE CASE 2011), Trieste, Italy, August 2011
Phase 3
Integration of the sustainability placeholder data and the target cascading process into a proactive integrated monitoring and analytical assessment framework.
